About Me

Hi, I’m Cally

I’m an applied learning scientist and instructional designer fascinated by how people think, learn, and organize knowledge. My work combines learning science, information science, and instructional design to create learning experiences that help people build understanding about how they learn as they master content knowledge.

With graduate degrees in education and in library and information science, I’m particularly interested in  metacognition — how thinking about our thinking improves learning outcomes — and knowledge organization—how categories and conceptual relationships shape the way we reason, solve problems, and develop understanding.

My work focuses on designing evidence-based learning experiences that develop durable mental models, strengthen metacognition, and help learners apply complex knowledge in real-world contexts.
